100% orange · extra sharp · rescued, then spoiled

Cheddar.

One part cat. Two parts cheddar. Entirely beloved.

Fig. 1 — the big cheese himself. (go on, boop him)

Meet the cheese

His name is just Cheddar. His family, though, likes to call him Chester — or Chester Cheddar, in full — and he still responds to every single one, especially if the treat bag is involved.

He was rescued as a stray kitten in Ocala, Florida, wandered straight into the family's heart, and decided, quite sensibly, to stay. These days he is living his best life in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 — where the sunbeams are excellent and the naps are world-class.

He is orange the way sunsets are orange: impossible to ignore and even better in person. His hobbies include supervising the kitchen from under the table, chirping at birds in what we believe is fluent pigeon, and melting — true to his name — into any patch of sunlight wider than a biscuit. He has never once caught the red dot. He remains extremely confident.

He is, by every metric that matters, a very good boy.

Cheddar as a tiny rescued kitten, fast asleep on his back on a gray comforter with his paws curled up.
Fig. 2 — day one, more or less. Freshly rescued, instantly home.

  • Melts in direct sunlight. This is normal for cheese and no cause for alarm.
  • Can hear the fridge open from three rooms away. Cannot hear the word “no” from anywhere.
  • His purr has two settings: distant thunder and small motorcycle.
  • Lifetime record versus the red dot: zero wins. Versus bottle caps: undefeated.
  • Official nap census: fourteen approved spots, personally ranked, rotated by season.
  • His favorite food is whatever you are having. His second favorite is the same food, served in his own bowl, refused.
